Vocal Ensemble
Grades: 9,10,11,12

Prerequisite: None
This ensemble is designed for students who desire to perform choral music. Both sacred and secular forms of music from different historical periods are studied during the year. The group, which will make public appearances, provides an opportunity to develop vocal talents to the Glory of God.

Concert Choir
Grades: 10,11,12
Duration: Year
Prerequisite: Audition
The Concert Choir provides the opportunity for those students with gifted voices to further develop their talents and increase their abilities of musical expression. The choir is offered to increase the student's awareness and comprehension of both sacred and secular forms of music. The choir will lead local congregations in worship. A weekend tour is also scheduled. The choir has as its main emphasis the presentation, through song, of the Good News of our Loving Savior and Lord.

Symphonic Band
Grades: 9,10,11,12
Duration: Year
Prerequisite: Audition
This course enables the student to experience various forms of music and to play that music with expression in the larger ensemble. The band is designed to develop the student's musical understanding of band literature and may perform at events such as athletic contests, concerts, chapel, and District Band Festival. Students may participate in the District and State Solo/Ensemble Festivals. The Symphonic Band reflects the theme of the music department of developing one's Gods-given talents to His glory.

Concert Band
Grades: 9,10,11,12

Prerequisite: Audition
The Concert Band is designed for those students who have attained a high level of proficiency on their instrument. The group will perform more advanced band literature of all historical periods. Students will perform throughout the school year at various events and they may participate in the District and State Solo/Ensemble Festivals. Students are urged to further improve their God-given talents by performing music to His glory.

Music Theory
Grades: 10,11,12
Duration: Semester
Prerequisite: Instructor's Approval
This course is designed to enable students to increase their understanding of the foundations, forms and styles of music. The emphasis of the course is the fundamentals of music including melody, harmony, and rhythm. Additional materials are provided for advanced students leading to the Advanced Placement in Music Theory Exam.

History of Music
Grades: 10,11,12
Duration: Semester
Prerequisite: Instructor's Approval
The History of Music course is designed to serve as an introduction to Western classical music. Historical periods from the Middle Ages through the Twentieth Century are examined. The course emphasizes listening and analyzing examples from each historical period.
