Dr. Herb Moldenhauer

The LHSA is sad to announce the passing of Superintendent Emeritus, Dr. Herbert Moldenhauer.

Dr. Moldenhauer began his lifelong Lutheran teaching career in 1945 where he served at multiple out of state schools as principal, as well as taught religion and history. After moving back to Michigan in 1961, Herb started his journey with the Lutheran High School Association of Detroit by serving as principal at Lutheran High School East. In 1975, Dr. Moldenhauer became superintendent of the LHSA. It was during this time that Lutheran High School Northwest was founded, as well as various financial programs that supported Christian secondary education. After retiring in 1989, Dr. Moldenhauer continued to support church ministry and shared the Gospel with incredible enthusiasm and joy! He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, his wife Elsie, their family, and all those he served with over the years in Christian Education.

Well done good and faithful servant!
